Q: What is the FDTC?
A: The FDTC stands for the Franklin Democratic Town Committee.
Q: When does the FDTC meet and where?
A: The FDTC meets the second Monday of every month at the Franklin TV and Radio Station, 23 Hutchinson Street from 7 pm – 8:30. We have open networking time from 8:30 – 9:00 pm. During the COVID-19 restrictions we are meeting on Zoom.
If you would like to attend a meeting and need transportation please contact the Chair at Chair@FranklinDemocrats.org and we will contact you to arrange transportation for you.
Q: What do you do at your meetings?
A: Our meetings are a combination of planning events, listening to the reports of our sub-committees, and discussing upcoming local, state and national issues of interest to Democrats.
We usually have local and state candidates or officials speak to us about policies being considered at the Massachusetts State House.
In addition, individual members will announce various opportunities for members to get involved in issues that they care deeply about. Examples from this past year include:
- A Climate Forum put on by members who wanted to educated Franklin residents on how climate chance is and will impact Franklin and what they can do to limit environmental factors that are impacting our climate and environment.
- A Civics Forum to bring together members of the Franklin Town Council and Franklin residents to discuss how our town government works and how citizens can get involved in town government.
- Our annual $1000 Carol Pizzi Essay Scholarship for a Franklin senior.
Q: Who can attend Franklin Democratic Town Committee meetings?
A: All Franklin residents can attend our meetings. We do require everyone treat everyone else with respect.
Q: What is involved in joining the FDTC?
A: The FDTC consists of 35 members whose names are on the Presidential Primary ballot that are voted on by Registered Franklin Democrats. All members must be registered Democrats residing in Franklin.
In addition, we have an unlimited number of Associate members who are registered Democrats. Associate members are voted on by the committee. The vote takes place whenever someone expresses an interest in joining the committee.
